Studio Tan...Re, re, release the Chairs?

OK, so you're wondering what we mean by the title above, right? Here it is in plain English, we now have three songs nearly finished and seven more on the drawing board. Don't yet have a title for the album but we are working like driven elves building the ultimate jazz sled!

Everyone is back where they belong, the offense (Greg) and defense (Donnie) are ready for the special teams (Rick) to turn over the ball. The coach chews on his whistle then mutters to the fat guy on the bench that it is time to turnover those burgers. The teacher is trying to explain to the class of six year olds that the game involves a simple strategy. They must hop up and dance around the group of sitting apparati until the music stops. Upon silence, they all sit down as fast as they can. It's called Musical Chairs and because the kids have no place to sit, we are getting more Musical Chairs manufactured.

So, for all those "Henryheads" out there who want their own copy of our 2007 release Musical Chairs, they will be popping out of the oven any day now. Would like water or tea with that disc mam?

Go Steelers!

Sunday in the Park

Last Sunday we played a benefit for the Toys for Tots. There was a great crowd of about 1000 bikers on hand and the weather was perfect.
Back to the studio now, OK?

They're Back!

Last week we came out of our electric factory and played at a fundraiser/ awards banquet to benefit a local battered women's shelter in Destin. The event was the 1st annual Beachcomber Music Awards which was to recognize the "best musicians" in the local Destin lounge scene. Even thogh we are clearly not a "lounge act", we played because Donnie was nominated as a result of his short stint backing up a local blues guitarist on a few gigs.

I never watch the Grammy's or any of the other award shows because to me, they are strictly political who-do-you-know events that fail to even recognize the true greats that often fly under the radar, but I digress.

Before we got up to play, the audience had been treated to several local lounge acts performing and had seen the best drummer award given to another player from a 1-4-5 band.

We played two songs from our 2006 release Musical Chairs (Audio Goo and Martian Conversation). When they asked for an encore, we played Chim Chim Cherie (from Sounding Rick - Live in Japan). Yes, we stuck out like a sore thumb amidst the other acts, but I think the audience loved the pain. As for Donnie, we'll get him a bobblehead Buddy Rich as an award because he's wasn't just the best drummer, he was the best DEMO!

PS It's true, we are currently huddled in the studio working on the follow up album to Musical Chairs. Stay tuned for more fun to come!

CD Release Party
Last Saturday night we played a short set to launch the release of Musical Chairs at The Sound in Fort Walton Beach. The Sound is a cool coffee shop and record store that specializes in rare vinyl recordings (remember those?). It was pretty cold outside (about 50) so the crowd was not as big as expected. Even with the weather, we had a good crowd of friends and family. It was really funny to watch Greg standing by a huge wood burning fire that covered him in smoke. He didn't mind though, he was keeping warm! If you don't already have a copy, please go to www.cdbaby.com/luckyhenry to order one or if you prefer to download a copy to your iPod, visit our store on iTunes. Now it's back to the studio to get the next record started.

Does This Look Like A Jazz Group?
Last night we were guests on Greg Guzman's Blue Plate Special on WUWF in Pensacola, Florida. Greg is a huge supporter of our music and dedicated the entire two-hour show to debuting our new CD, Musical Chairs. We had a wonderful time, a bunch of laughs and several calls from listeners who liked what they heard. In the photo from left to right: Rick Reynolds, Donnie Morgan, Greg Roth and Greg Guzman.
